Over the last 10 years, we have partnered with the Ministry of Education to successfully host the Storymoja Festival and The Ministry of Sports, Culture, and Heritage to host Storymoja Read Aloud. Both international literary events aimed at exciting children to embrace reading.
We are embarking on setting up Book Clubs in high schools/senior schools or plugging into their existing book clubs.
The Storymoja Festival book club will feature; A Fire Within and Other Stories. This book was commissioned by OXFAM HECA in an effort to facilitate advocacy on economic, gender, or climate justice and accountable governance, by supporting the development of social justice through youth literature. We will help the school sustain this by having sessions with them once a term and a launch which shall be a demo on how to run the club for the schools. This will include a panel of thought leaders in the literacy field, a teacher from the school, and three students, who shall have an engaging experiential session with the students, in an open forum manner that is also entertaining and educative for students.
