Storymania
What are Storymanias?
Storymanias are celebrations of Kenyan stories and Kenyan culture. The program features include a Mchongoano session, a storytelling sessions, a book discussion featuring authors and some music. All sessions are entertaining and open, allowing for free discussion even on controversial topics. Storymanias are perfect opportunities to open doors for tolerance and understanding in out communities. The book discussions encourage active reading.
Objectives
- To promote and encourage the telling of Kenyan stories in a uniquely Kenyan way.
- To foster understanding and tolerance through the art of storytelling.
- To allow room for writers and artistes to network with each other and with the corporate world.
- To promote active reading through book discussions.
Target Audience
Young adults who have a strong interest in performance art, literature, creative writing and cultural information. Business stakeholders who wish to enjoy and promote storytelling and creative art.
Venues
We have been running the Storymania program in Westlands at Dass Restaurant, on Woodvale Grove, and at T-Spot, Koinange street. We are looking to spread the program into other areas within and around the Nairobi Centre.
Entry
Entrance fee is Ksh100 per person.
