Master Publishing begins a new series of writing workshops, this time focusing on playwriting, specifically the one-act play and the monologue.

Business books are best sellers around the world as well as here in Kenya. What makes a good business book stand out from the rest? What can you do to make your own manuscripts grab a publisher’s attention?

We’re looking for fiction that is unique, stories with characters we’ll remember, plots that leave us thinking. The contest is open to anyone, any race, any country, any continent. The only caveat? The main character must be of African descent.

El Gouna Writers’ Residency will be launched in 2010 and will host three sessions a year during the months of February, May and June. The length of each session is one month.

This project is run by The Imagine Company’s Events and Special Projects division with funding from the Changamoto Arts Foundation.

The entire workshop runs for five Saturdays. It is patterned after graduate school classes in creative writing. Each session is three hours long and completely interactive.
