Welsh storyteller Daniel Morden has been telling tales for a living since 1989. He is one of the UK’s most popular storytellers, and his repertoire includes a wide range of stories suitable for both children and adults. The Times describes his work as “gruesome, fascinating, and hypnotic,” and the Guardian calls him “a master storyteller.” Morden has performed on theater, television, and radio, and he is the author of five books, including the collection Dark Tales from the Woods, which won the Tir na n-Og Prize for Children’s Literature in 2007.
Professional storyteller and festival veteran Jan Blake has more than twenty years of experience spinning tales for children, teenagers, and adults. Born in England of Jamaican heritage, Blake specializes in traditional stories from West Africa and the Caribbean. Her performances weave together songs, riddles, jokes, and gestures, ensuring that every story is a unique and indelible experience. Blake is the founder of the Akua Storytelling Project, and she is a regular performer on BBC radio. She runs numerous workshops at schools, festivals, and theaters, all designed to help shape a new generation of engaged, talented and passionate storytellers.
Daniel Morden and Jan Blake will run a Storytelling Skills Factory Workshop at the Storymoja Hay Festival which will certainly inspire the next generation of storytellers on Friday 31st August 2009 at 2pm to 5.30pm in the British Council Pavilion.
Daniel and Jan will also participate in the Storytelling Knockout Sessions with Storymoja and the Homeboyz. See the schedule for details of the Sessions.
