PRISON STORIES at the SHFK
July 29th, 2009 | Published in News, Storymoja Hay Festival 2009
Always gripping, often terrifying, and occasionally inspirational, the Kenyan prison memoir is one of the country’s most controversial literary forms. Today, three formerly imprisoned writers come together to discuss their experiences and their writing. Maina Kinyatti, the author of Kenya: A Prison Notebook and Season of Blood: Poems from a Kenyan Prison is joined by the best-selling author of Deadly Money Maker, Saga McOdongo, and Wanyiri Kihoro, the former Nyeri MP and author of Never Say Die. This impressive panel will be facilitated by former CNN Africa correspondent Jeff Koinange, and will offer you the opportunity to satisfy your curiosity about all aspects of life in –and after – prison.
On Saturday at 10am to 11.30am in the Diversity Stage.
