Mukoma wa Ngugi, journalist, writer, poet

A master of many forms, Mukoma wa Ngugi has worked as a journalist, poet, fiction writer, and political essayist. Mukoma is the author of a poetry collection, Hurling Words at Consciousness, as well as an essay collection, Conversing with Africa. His essays and columns have been carried in newspapers worldwide, and he has served as a guest commentator on Democracy Now, Al Jazeera, and the BBC World Service. His short story, “How Kamau wa Mwangi Escaped into Exile” was recently nominated for the prestigious Caine Prize, and his next book, Nairobi Heat, is forthcoming from Penguin later this year.
