Kate Adie, who spent fourteen years as the BBC’s chief news correspondent, is one of Britain’s most high-profile television journalists. Adie is famous for broadcasting from war zones across the world, from Rwanda to Tiananmen Square to Iran to Sierra Leone. She is author of a best-selling autobiography, The Kindness of Strangers, as well as several other nonfiction works detailing both her social activism and her professional accomplishments. Due to her brave and groundbreaking career in broadcast journalism, Adie was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1993. She currently presents From Our Own Correspondent on BBC Radio 4.
