Well, then your votes are in, and the 1st winner is….

My Wife is a Tomboy by Denis Kabi. Read it here.

This story will be entered into the Story of the Month Contest and the final winner will get tickets to the Storymoja Hay Festival. To whet your attitude, here are a few more highlights that you can look forward to.

How can you safely set up dates with people you’ve never met? How do you introduce yourself online in a way that highlights your good points and downplays (or ignores) your bad? How can you be sure the other person is for real? Come and chat with others familiar with the online dating scene. Come join the discussion with James Murwa in the Technology and Life Section on Friday 31st July 2009 at 10am to 11.30am.

If you have kids, they will definitely enjoy the rich schedule of activities throughout the festival. One of them is a session where kids come with ordinary items like paper and bottle tops and learn how to create instant clothes for an Eco- Fashion Show at the Storyhippo Kids Zone.

To find out more about the Storymoja Hay Festival go to the website and read the schedules.

And now for this week’s entries to the Story of the Week.

Love, fidelity, children, what has a man got to do. A hug from an Angel by Chrispus Kimaru.

And here, a little piece from the streets of Tanzania by a Kenyan hand Your Shoes by Mwas Mahugu.

Finally, Stephen Mwangi is back with another story. By the way his last piece earned second place in the 1st Contest. Perhaps this piece will impress you, too. Sale of Kenya Oriji.

Please vote for the three stories above. The story that you vote as the story of the week will get a chance to compete for Story of the Month. The winner of the Story of the Month, which will indeed be the Storymoja Hay Festival Story of the Month, will get tickets to the Festival, and will have a chance to experience an incredible celebration of life, words, and culture.

If you would like your story to compete for the Story of the Month, send in your 1000 word story to blogs@storymojaafrica.co.ke before the end of Wednesday, 22nd July, 2009.

It has been a pleasure so far. Please keep writing and sending your stories.
